The Design of Column Connection Tubes for Liquid Chromatography

Abstract
From the theory of dispersion in open tubes equations are developed that allow the calculation of the dimensions of column connection tubes that restrict the increase in band width to a maximum of 5% for all eluted peaks. Graphs are included that allow the direct determination of the optimal dimensions of connecting tubes from a knowledge of the column dimensions and column efficiency.
