Abstract
Nineteen children, surviving tuberculous meningitis, received antimicrobial therapy for 12 months or less, and 11 of these were treated for 8 months or less. The average duration of follow-up study was 52 months, with no instance of relapse. It is suggested that a 12 month course of antimicrobial therapy, including isoniazid, may be effectively employed in many cases of tuberculous meningitis in children, although caution must be exercised in the decision to employ this shorter regimen.
