Periodic hypersomnia and bulimia

Abstract
The twenty-sixth case of the Kleine-Levin syndrome is presented and the limits of the syndrome delineated. A low intelligence quotient was found, possibly related to the disorder. Elevated adrenal steroid excretion and a suggestive abnormality of cerebrospinal fluid catecholamines are discussed. It is suggested that a better understanding of periodic hypersomnia and bulimia may require the utilization of both neuro-humoral and psychological data.
