Structure ofPb206Determined by the (d, t) Reaction

Abstract
The level structure of Pb206 has been studied using the neutron pickup reaction Pb207(d, t)Pb206 with a deuteron bombarding energy of 21.6 MeV. Triton angular distributions have been measured in the angular range 10°-80° for 14 levels up to 3.3-MeV excitation in Pb206. The experimental results have been analyzed using a distorted-wave Born-approximation calculation to obtain l values and spectroscopic factors. Configuration assignments, consistent with the experimental data and with the distribution of strength predicted by a sum rule, have been made for all of the observed states. These assignments and the spectroscopic factors are compared with recent shell-model calculations.
