Abstract
The temperature dependence of CI35 nuclear quadrupole resonance in sodium chlorate and copper chlorate is studied in the temperature range 77 to 300 °K. It is shown that the assumptions made in Bayer's theory, are valid for the case of chlorates and hence the frequency of the torsional oscillations of the ClO3 group is calculated using Bayer's theory. The calculated value of the torsional frequency compares well with available Raman spectroscopy data. Keywords
