Abstract
Six families (27 members) were investigated for infection with echovirus type 18 during July-October 1972. Echovirus 18 was excreted in the stools of 15 out of 18 family members investigated. One or several blood samples were taken from all the 27 family members during the observation period. Titers of neutralizing antibodies against echovirus 18 were determined by two methods. Indication of a recent infection with echovirus type 18 was demonstrated in 23 subjects (85 %).Keywords
