Abstract
A specimen of Hippomedon denticulatus (Bate) possessing a pair of crystalline eye-lenses besides the usual pigmentary eyes is described, and compared with H. massiliensis. A survey of the development of the eyes in other Hippomedon species, based on published data, is given; in the eye-bearing species five types of development of the eyes can be distinguished. The possible evolutionary relationship between these types is discussed. Keywords
