Abstract
Previous studies have shown the disruptive effects of electroshock convulsion on maternal behavior if given from midway in pregnancy to shortly after parturition. This article reports preliminary data indicating that ether anesthesia during the time of administering the electroshocks "affords complete or almost complete protection against the deleterious effects of a series of convulsive shocks from the 12th day of pregnancy to the first day after parturition."
