Abstract
A highly sensitive method of detection coupled with a laser atomic beam experiment using on-line-produced Fr isotopes, has permitted finding and measuring the first optical resonance line of this element and its wavelength: nm. A high-resolution optical study has been undertaken, which has led to the determination of the hyperfine structure and isotope shifts for isotopes of mass number 208 to 213.
