Abstract
We would like to congratulate Kass et al1 andGordon et al2 for their 2 well-written articlesconcerning a well-designed and important study. They clearly demonstrate thatmedical therapy that lowers intraocular pressure (IOP) prevents or retardsthe development of glaucoma in patients with ocular hypertension. This isnoteworthy as it links the development of glaucoma to IOP lowering for thefirst time in a conclusive manner. This helps us better understand the glaucomatousprocess when combined with the results of other multicentered studies3-5 that find IOP loweringcan retard the progression of glaucoma at various stages of the disease process. Keywords
