Abstract
The possible conversion of 17 alpha_hydroxy-20_keto-steroids derived from the adrenal cortex into D-homosteroids and so into derivatives of 3-methylchrysene is discussed. D-Homoandrostane is non-carcinogenic, but 3_methylchrysene, prepared by a simple route from alpha-tetralone, is a weak carcinogen. Keywords
