Abstract
Elevated levels of alpha fetoprotein (AFP), a major plasma protein synthesized by the human fetus, in maternal serum and in amniotic fluid have been suggested as an antenatal indication of developmental disorders of the fetus. A case is reported of elevated levels of AFP in the amniotic fluid associated with fetal esophageal atresia.
