Abstract
Unsuccessful, fatal expts. with an artificial heart-lung apparatus were found to be due to contamination with paracolon bacillus. Infusion in-traven. of a 14-hr. culture of this organism resuspended in saline, kills all exptl. animals in from 2 to 24 hours. The course is characterized by a hemorrhagic state with petechial hemorrhages, gastro-intestinal hemorrhages, and incoagulable blood. Keywords
