Abstract
Marked opalescence was noted in serum and plasma of rabbits which subsequently died a few days after exposure to a single lethal dose of total body irradiation. The opalescence appeared within 24 hours following exposure to irradiation and disappeared completely 72 hrs. after exposure. The relationship of this phenomenon to death may provide a valuable early measurement of the effect of acute exposure to radiation.
