Abstract
The basal diet consisted of sucrose, 71%, vit. B1-free casein, 18%, salt mixture, 4%, fat, 5%, and cod-liver oil, 2%. Various amts. of the sucrose can be replaced by addenda containing the vit. B1 complex. Rats fed the basal ration with 5 or 15% sulfite-treated yeast developed polynueritis; when crystalline vit. B1 was added they grew as well as those on untreated yeast diets. Sulfite treatment is the most satisfactory yet tried. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
