Abstract
Stimulated emission at 1054.4 nm has been observed from Nd3+ in a crystal of Ba2ZnGe2O7. The threshold for laser action at room temperature was 4.5 J. The crystalline Stark levels determined from the absorption and fluorescence spectra of Ba2ZnGe2O7 are reported and compared to those of Ba2MgGe2O7 : Nd3+. The fluorescence lifetimes are reported and the laser transition cross sections have been calculated. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
