Abstract
We report high-resolution laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy of the Schumann–Runge bands of molecular oxygen in flames, excited in the region 202–228 nm by a tunable-laser system. A one-dimensional diode array was used for one of the first demonstrations of imaging of oxygen fluorescence, and near coincidences of atomic- (two-photon) and molecular- (single-photon) oxygen transitions were observed that may have important implications for measuring atomic oxygen in flames. Keywords
