Abstract
The vegetation of the peninsula, variously called "Little Sea" and "Studland Heath," is described and analyzed. The purpose of the work is obviously threefold: to form a descriptive datum from which subsequent changes can be assessed; to give an indication of the factors which are operating or have operated to control the vegetational development; to arouse interest in some of the innumerable problems awaiting study. The habitat is systematically analyzed. Three distinct vegetation regions are de- scribed : harbor shore, western plateau, and eastern sands. Accessible species lists and good photographs accompany the article.
