Abstract
The absorption coefficient at the center of several lines of the 961‐ and 1064‐cm−1 bands of CO2 has been measured for CO2 and mixtures of CO2 and N2 and He at absolute pressures to 18 atm. The data are in good agreement with the theory of pressure‐broadened non‐Lorentzian overlapping lines, which predicts greater peak absorption than theories that calculate the spectrum as a sum of Lorentzian‐shaped lines. Keywords
