Field dynamics of a single-mode laser

Abstract
We show that a laser heterodyne technique permits one to measure in detail the phase and amplitude dynamics of a laser. For the regularly and chaotically pulsing laser, we find qualitative agreement with the dynamics of the complex Lorenz equations.
