The Fornax and Grus clusters and the local infall velocity.

Abstract
Infrared magnitudes and 21-cm velocity widths have been measured for a sample of galaxies in the Fornax and Grus clusters. The Tully–Fisher relation for Fornax is very well defined and yields a distance modulus of 31.01 ± 0.20. For Grus, the relationship is looser (the internal motions of the group not being fully separated from the Hubble flow), with a derived mean modulus of 31.11 ± 0.28. If we neglect the deceleration of the clusters by the Local Super cluster, their distances and redshifts are consistent with an infall motion of the Local Group towards the Virgo cluster of 180 ± 80 and 280 ± 120 km s−1, respectively. Correction for this deceleration would increase these values by approximately 40 per cent.
