Abstract
This is the 6th annual report resulting from questionnaires returned by 79 trappers and observers scattered through the Canadian Arctic. During 1940-41 there was an almost universal increase in Arctic foxes, Alopex lagopus. In the eastern Arctic, this increase followed the upswing in numbers of lemmings, Lemmus, Dicrostonyx, and snowy owls, Nyctea nyctea, that began the yr. before and continued through 1940-41. On the western Arctic mainland no such correlation between these 3 spp. is apparent from the records for 1935-41. There were no widespread epidemics of "distemper" in sledge dogs, although some spread of disease occurred on the west coast of Hudson''s Bay and north from Coppermine. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
