Abstract
A pressor material has been isolated from the rabbit uterus with several characteristics of renin. K is acid stable, heat labile, nondialyzable, and (NH4)2 SO4 precipitable. It produces a reninlike pressor curve when injected into the rat, rabbit, or dog and is inactivated by incubation with renin antibodies. On incubation -with renin-free serum it produces a pressor material similar to synthetic angiotensin II. The concentration of renin in pregnant uterus is greater than in nonpregnant uterus and is equal to that of whole kidney but because of the greater weight of the pregnant uterus it is a greater potential source of renin than the kidneys. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
