TRANSPLANTATION OF THE V-2 CARCINOMA BY SUSPENSIONS CONTAINING KNOWN NUMBERS OF TUMOR CELLS

Abstract
It has been shown that transplantation of the V-2 carcinoma can be effected routinely by intramuscular inoculation of 40,000 or more fresh, unstained cells, and occasionally by as few as 4 cells. While the tumor may be preserved for at least 16 months when frozen and stored at -30[degree] C, approximately 23 million unstained cells are necessary for further propagation following such treatment. Following the inoculation of fresh cells, early growth of the tumor is logarithmic.
