A Mathematical Model of Aging Processes. II

Abstract
In a previous paper, a mathematical model was developed which related the amount of deterioration at a given age to the corresponding probability of death from a related cause for an individual at that age. The present paper extends this model by refining these assumptions and considers upper and lower cut-off levels, several probabilities of death associated with different cut-off levels, and age-related cut-off levels. Also, age-related variances and the distribution of parameters are considered, and the model is extended to allow for the comparison of mortality curves from two or more populations. The agreement between these theoretical models and Ontario mortality data is examined and is shown to be good for mortality rates from a number of causes of death and from all causes.
