Abstract
The response to gibberellin of 119 rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties, including some dwarf mutants, was studied. The japonica, indica and dwarf mutants showed a negative correlation between the lengths of their second leaf sheaths and their responses to gibberellin. No such correlation was obtained with the javanica varieties. There was a negative relationship between gibberellin response and culm length. Some short varieties, however, showed a low response to gibberellin, indicating that lack of endogenous gibberellin is not the only factor responsible for dwarfness. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
