Abstract
Epithelial cells were separated from fibroblasts on discontinuous Ficoll density gradients by centrifugation for 10 minutes at 8000 ×g. The technique was used successfully with cells from tissue cultures and biopsies of some human tumors. Preliminary centrifugation studies of cells from cultures infected with different types of virus appeared to demonstrate that infected cells were separated from uninfected cells. Possible applications of the technique to problems in research and clinical medicine are suggested. Keywords
