Abstract
We apply the general formulation of the theory of extended systems developed previously to the case of a relativistic string in an external field. This problem is relevant for the construction of models of strongly interacting particles. When the external field is static and uniform, explicit solutions are presented and classified according to their symmetry properties. Keywords
