Abstract
Cytolytic tests with Paramecium caudatum and hemolytic tests with the washed blood cells of laboratory animals made in vitro made it possible in a short time to determine the potency of a known dilution of bee venom. The results of these tests in vitro were comparable to those obtained by injecting intradermally the same dilution of bee venom into a guinea pig. The tests in vitro showed clearly a variance in reactions provoked by individual bees. The hemolytic tests demonstrated further a slight variance in the effects of the venom on the blood cells of different kinds of laboratory animals. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
