Abstract
Prolonged u.v. photolysis of the matrix isolated complex [Fe(CO)5] results in formation of the fragment [Fe(CO)3]. Isotopic substitution indicates a pyramidal C3v structure. Possible reasons for this structure are discussed. Further u.v. photolysis produces Fe(CO)x species (x < 3).Keywords
