$D^{0 *} \to D^{0} γ$ and Other Radiative Decays of Vector Mesons

Abstract

With use of SU(4) as a spectrum-generating group, the radiative decay rates of the charmed vector mesons and of

J (ψ)

are calculated. With the known decay rates of the "old" mesons

Γ (ω \to π γ)

,

Γ (ϕ \to η γ)

,

Γ (ρ \to π γ)

, and

Γ (K^{0 *} \to K^{0} γ)

as input, one obtains

Γ (K^{+ *} \to K^{+} γ) = 2.6

keV,

Γ (ω \to η γ) = 220

eV,

Γ (ρ \to η γ) = 4.8

keV,

Γ (ψ \to χ γ) = 1.6

keV,

Γ (D^{0 *} \to D^{0} γ) = 350

eV, and

Γ (D^{+ *} \to D^{+} γ) = 22

eV.
