Abstract
An analytic model is presented for the steady state flow through a fiber mat burner for the case of complete combustion in a transport limited, catalyzed reaction. The model includes the temperature dependence of the transport coefficients but not their concentration dependence. The burner model is completed by matching to a nonanalytic, finite difference model of the free convection flow across the front face of the burner. The flow through the burner is considered to take place in noninteracting stream tubes.Calculations with a single central tube are shown to provide a temperature distribution through the burner in close agreement with the measured one.Less satisfactory agreement is obtained for species concentration profiles. Keywords
