An apparatus is described which will automatically trace electron paths in electrostatic fields. Information about the field is obtained by measurement in an electrolytic tank, and the equations of motion are integrated by a special purpose digital computer. The results of the computation are fed back to the electrolytic tank so that the measuring probes automatically trace the desired trajectory.
