Abstract
The stability of a potential vortex with a rotating and a non-rotating jet core is analysed. Eigenvalues are calculated numerically for different values of the ratio of the strength of the vortex to the axial velocity. These results show that the potential vortex becomes unstable in the presence of a jet. Keywords
