Abstract
Improved experimental measurements have been made to test an inverse radiative transfer algorithm that makes use of time-resolved measurements of the backscattered radiance to estimate the Legendre moments of the single-scatter phase function. In the latest experiments, a cw mode-locked argon-ion laser synchronously pumping a dye laser was used to produce 5-psec-duration pulses, and a streak camera with a time resolution of 10 psec was used. The single-scatter albedo and the asymmetry factor could be estimated more accurately than with the data from earlier experiments, but higher Legendre moments continue to be impractical to estimate. Keywords
