Abstract
A case is presented of pituitary gigantism in a 5-year-old girl. The syndrome began at age 3, and was studied over a period of eleven years (from age 5 to age 16). X-radiation had a transitory lowering effect on the growth rate and on the level of serum inorganic phosphorus. Estrogen therapy also decreased the growth rate to some extent, but the retardation became pronounced with the onset of anorexia nervosa due to a self-imposed starvation diet.
