Resonance fluorescence and Raman spectra of gaseous sulphur

Abstract
The Raman spectrum of gaseous S2 at 718 cm–1 is reported. A resonance fluorescence series of gaseous 32S2 excited by the 5145 Å Ar+ laser line is analyzed in detail. Excitation is in the 4–21 band of the B3Σ uX3Σ g system. Franck–Condon factors have been calculated from RKR potential curves and they are confirmed experimentally by the observed relative intensities in the fluorescence series.
