Abstract
This article describes and discusses the trial use of milieu and activity-based therapy in two adult day centers. The therapy programs attempted to increase client involvement in the physical and social environments of the treatment settings. The day center environments were used to reinforce and support formal treatment efforts by providing opportunities for skill practice. Results from empirical observations are reported; further investigation of this treatment modality in settings for the elderly is called for.
