Abstract
Pallor of the skin was induced in all frogs injected by methyl-guanidine hydro-chloride. That this effect is not caused by action on the adrenals is shown by contraction of the melanophores in the isolated leg and web. Addition of pituitary solution weakened the effect. Injection of calcium lactate previous to the injection of guanidine practically offsets and Collip''s parathyroid hormone reduces the effect. Guanidine probably acts directly upon the melanophores or upon the nerve-endings in them.
