Indirectly acting neurotoxins

Abstract
The role of toxic substances in causing central nervous system dysfunction is discussed with a focus on effects which are mediated indirectly through other organ systems which affect the brain. Neurochemical measurements of brain function, and the use of neuropharmacological probes of behavior are presented with the examples of lead poisoning, as a case of chemical porphyria, and estrogenization, as a case of hormonal dysfunction.Keywords
