Abstract
A brief review is given of methods of calibration for the infrared determination of petroleum oil extracted into carbon tetrachloride. Two new methods of calculation are suggested and results presented comparing these methods with those already in use. The results show an accuracy of approximately ±10% for a range of 12 petroleum oils when using the new methods. One of the methods was tested for linearity of response and results were compared using different instruments calibrated by use of the method. Keywords
