Abstract
The hard magnetic properties of Sm27−xZrxFe73 alloys, having (Sm,Zr)Fe3 as the main phase (PuNi3 crystal structure), are investigated for 0 ≤x≤ 19. The easy magnetization direction is always directed along the c‐axis up to the Curie temperature of about 385 °C. The anisotropy field, determined by the singular point detection (SPD) method, is found to be 14 T at room temperature for x3 shows a coercivity, Hci, of 8.5 kA/cm and a remanence, Jr, of 0.43 T. Maximum coercivity, Hci=10.8 kA/cm (Jr=0.43 T), is measured for mechanically alloyed Sm20Zr10Fe70. For a higher Zr content the coercivity decreases like the anisotropy field whereas the remanence can be improved up to 0.53 T.This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
