Abstract
Dehalogenation of tmp2GaCl (tmp = 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidino group) with sodium/ potassium alloy leads to the digallane (tmp)2Ga-Ga (tmp)2 as a pale yellow solid. Alternatively this digallane is prepared in good yields by reaction of four equivalents of tmpLi with Ga2Cl4·2 dioxane. Ga2(tmp)4 is characterized by MS. NMR (1H and 13C) and X ray structure determination. The gallium-gallium bond length is 252.5(1) pm and its two GaN2 units are twisted by 31° against each other.Keywords
