Abstract
The thermal expansion characteristics of cubic VC0.89, cubic VC0.73, and hexagonal V2C were determined between room temperature and ∼600°C by the Debye—Scherrer technique using gold as an internal standard. For the range 25° to 600°C, the average linear thermal expansion coefficients are , and and (all ×10−6/C°), respectively. For randomly oriented V2C, was calculated to be about 8×10−6/C° for the same temperature range.
