Abstract
Peritonitis due to contamination in the spiking step of CAPD bag exchange remains a persistent problem. We describe here the Sterile Connecting Device (SCD), an instrument which accomplishes bag exchanges by welding an extension tube from the dialysate bag to the patient administration set.
