Abstract
The seriously injured patient seen in the hospital's emergency department presents a special set of problems. The physician responsible for his care must be able to recognize and treat any and all types and combinations of injuries. Top priority, of course, goes to ventilation and circulation. Simple maneuvers are often lifesaving if respiratory or circulatory failure is recognized immediately. Keywords
