Abstract
A moment method is employed to calculate the shear viscosity, the long-wavelength low-frequency limit of the transverse current-current correlation function. With a Gaussian spectral function, the moments determine all the parameters which occur in the expression for the shear viscosity. The numerical results obtained for different values of density and temperature are in reasonably good agreement with experimental values for argon. Keywords
