Ozone and Ozonide Production and Stabilization in Water

Abstract
Evidence is presented showing that ozone and ozonide are produced by the photochemical decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and sodium persulfate in water made alkaline with sodium hydroxide. Their yields and lifetimes are increased by increase in base and molecular oxygen, the increase with base being much greater in the case of ozone. Consideration is given to the reaction mechanism.Keywords
