Munchausen's Syndrome Simulating Torsion Dystonia

Abstract
Torsion dystonia (dystonia musculorum deformans) is a movement disorder that may be genetic, environmental, or idiopathic in origin.1 The hereditary forms usually begin in childhood or adolescence with involuntary posturing of the foot or hand in the autosomal recessive form and with trunk or neck posturing in the rarer autosomal dominant form.2 Both forms may progress over years to produce contortions of the entire body. The diagnosis of torsion dystonia is based on clinical observations and family history, since no specific biochemical or anatomic abnormality has been identified.Torsion dystonia must be differentiated from other movement disorders, such as Wilson's . . .
