Abstract
Before an electric arc furnace, which is a rapidly fluctuating load during part of its operating cycle, is connected to an electric power distribution system, the electrical characteristics of the furnace must be known in order that the service may be provided in such a way that the resulting voltage fluctuations on the system will not exceed allowable limits. These and related factors are discussed in this paper which outlines a general procedure that may be followed in planning electric service for such loads.Keywords
